This tool infers the chain from the "address format" only; it cannot verify whether an address is genuine or who the other party is. Before sending, always: (1) re-confirm the chain matches with the recipient; (2) send a small test amount first; (3) make sure the other party isn't running a fake OTC scam. Address formats: a 34-character string starting with T is usually TRON (TRC20); a 42-character string starting with 0x is usually Ethereum or BNB Chain (ERC20 / BEP20 — these share the same address format and need to be confirmed separately).

Sending on the wrong chain vs. a rigged deal — what's the difference

When a USDT transfer goes wrong, it's usually one of two situations. The first is a pure technical slip: the same USDT runs on different chains — TRC20, ERC20, BEP20 and so on — and if you send coins to a network the recipient doesn't support, you often can't get them back. That has nothing to do with anyone deceiving you; you simply took the wrong route. The second is more dangerous: someone has set a trap behind the scenes — especially in off-the-books currency swaps or buying and selling USDT through a "private seller". The scammer gives you an address to pay into, and once you've sent, the money on their side never arrives, or they simply vanish. This checker solves the first problem: paste in the receiving address and read its chain from the format first, so you don't lose coins to a chain mismatch.

The right way to use it: before you hit send, copy and paste the whole receiving address the other party gave you and check it, confirming its chain matches the network you plan to use. An address starting with T and 34 characters long is usually TRON TRC20; one starting with 0x and 42 characters long is the Ethereum family, where ERC20 and BEP20 share the same format — you can't tell them apart from the address alone and must confirm separately with the recipient. Whichever it is, the first time you send to a new address, always send a small amount as a test, confirm it arrives, then send the larger sum.

This tool cannot guarantee safety: it only reads the "format" of the address. It can tell the chain, but it can't verify who is behind that address or whether the other party will take the money and deny it. It blocks a wrong-chain transfer; it can't block a scammer who is a scammer. So with private currency swaps or buying USDT from an individual, always read fake OTC scams first to understand the playbook they use. For larger amounts, prefer the exchange's built-in, protected channels — don't take "it's cheaper to transfer privately" on faith.
